Remembering

Today would have been His Lordship’s Birthday and to celebrate it in a manner which he would have thought totally fitting, my stepdaughter and I drove to Gleneagles for afternoon tea. Last year we went there for a prebirthday treat before he got too ill and we decided it was a fitting way to pay homage to his special day.

We did full justice to the array of sandwiches, scones and cakes but still had to have a doggy bag away with us when we faltered at the last hurdle. We like to think that somewhere in the ether Sandy was delighted that we had such a wonderful afternoon in each other’s company and that of the cake selection.

It was so fortunate that the weather favoured us with sun and heat. Never have I seen so many people enjoying the grounds at Gleneagles. There seemed to be several events on for The English Bank Holiday weekend.
My sunglasses were put to good use again.
