Home sweet home

Begur is a lovely place to visit, and we enjoyed our three months there, but we were beginning to get a bit homesick. This morning we packed the car as full as it would go, and drove home. But not for long -- we somehow acquired so much extra stuff during our stay, helped by a couple of return trips to France in October and November, that I'll be back in Begur tomorrow to collect the things that wouldn't fit in the car.

Three months is a long time to be away from home -- it felt kind of strange to be back. Luckily the weather has been mild, and while the house was cold, it wasn't icy. S's first task was to sweep the chimney, which was quickly done, and then we lit a cosy log fire in the woodburner. Cups of tea, Christmas cake, and a nice surprise of a box of Green and Black chocolates that had arrived in our absence -- just as we'd run out of Christmas chocolate. Caught up on village news with our neighbour, a few Bonne Années to people met in the street, and then due to lack of supplies (poor planning left most of the fresh food in Begur), supper was very French -- an omelette and a glass of wine.

This blip provides symmetry with my first ever blip, a year ago today -- it's the same Christmas decoration, hanging in the same place. It's a lot more robust and highly engineered than Palafrugell's wonky stars, isn't it?
