Mr. Redlegs by the Ohio!

Saturday
This evening we went downtown to the Celtic Festival, featuring Celtic music and dancing, and set up on the street near the baseball stadium, where the Reds were playing (and losing to) the Cardinals. Accordingly, we skipped the high parking prices in the area, and found some free street parking near International Friendship Park, and walked in, along the river, where we passed another Mr Redlegs statue outside the stadium, underneath the National Steamboat monument, shown in extra. “This is an exact replica of the original red paddle wheel from the American Queen riverboat (the largest steamboat ever built). It is positioned about 40 feet off the ground, above a series of 24 metal smokestacks in what is known as the Dan and Susan Pfau Whistle Grove.  The smokestacks showcase the importance of steam in the early days of riverboat travel and the relevance that riverboats played in the early history of Cincinnati. Different sounds are triggered by passing among the various columns, including calliope music, a steamboat whistle and voices of river veterans talking about the rigors of life on the Ohio.”
The Celtic festival was fun - lively music and some very good dancers - and I had some very good fish and chips there, but I didn’t get any good photos, hence another Mr. Redlegs Blip!
