Sgwarnog: In the Field

Bay

It was a busy August Bank Holiday in Scarborough. I caught an early train and was there before 10.00. I spent the morning in North Bay including a good exploration of the now derelict Marvel’s Amusement Park (extra) which is a good spot for butterflies.

Then I walked around the headland toward the harbour and South Bay before heading back out of town to Scarborough Athletic’s new stadium where they were hosting South Shields in a Northern Premier League fixture. It was an evenly contested game of few chances and ended 0-0.

After the match I still had a couple of hours before my train home so I wandered back down to South Bay. The late afternoon light was burnishing the castle walls nicely.

Eight years since my last Scarborough blip.
