'Mooning' red squirrel

Big surprise on our infra-red or “spy “camera today is the first sighting of a red squirrel in our garden.

So it looks as if the recent culling of grey squirrels in our area carried out by Scottish Wildlife Trust is successful.

The aim is to create a corridor along the central belt free of grey squirrels in order to eradicate the virus they carry. It gives the grey squirrel a dose of flu but is fatal to red squirrels.
