Chris

To Loughborough early to take Murphy for his MoT, then into town to visit Aziz. In Biggin Street, I encountered Chris, whose mobility scooter is pictured here, along with her partner Mick. Their scooters are decorated brightly with plastic flowers and cuddly toys. They have their own registration plates.

Aziz told us that people had been shooting up heroin in the marketplace in broad daylight yesterday. He'd phoned the police but they hadn't turned up until two hours later even though the police station is only around 500m away.

Back to Shepshed and popped in to see Colin who had suffered severe cuts and grazes and bruised ribs after falling over right outside Leicester Royal Infirmary. He'd been trying for 2-3 days to get the pharmacy there to release some eye drops that he needed after his cataract operation. They'd obliged him to come in  himself on the bus from Shepshed, irrespective of the fact that he's disabled walking on sticks after suffering three strokes. Someone said he should go to A&E nearby, but he declined as he knew he'd be kept there for at least six hours. He soldiers on. At least his son and ex wife were nearby and able to bring him home.

I bet Chris and Mick wouldn't have been so obliging.

Choir tonight. AGM and first rehearsal for the Autumn concert in which I don't think I'm going to be able to take part because of absences.
