Working the box at Wittersham Road

I forgot to take much lunch to Wittersham Road and didn’t realise it until Susan rang to tell me my sandwiches were still in the fridge. There isn’t any opportunity to leave the box at Wittersham so she very kindly drove to the box to deliver my lunch and bring some scones too for a pleasant afternoon tea later in the afternoon.

The last few hours of the turn were rather busy in that there was a report of sheep on the line between Wittersham and Northiam which necessitated many phone calls and forms to be filled in and not without difficulty either. It was all sorted out in the end leaving one or two issues that need to be addressed in the future.

A fraught journey to and from Wittersham. The A262 has, for the past 6 months has gained a reputation as traffic light ally. Today there were 6 sets of temporary lights in the 18 mile journey. And, of course, there were the usual quota idiots on the road pulling out from junctions, overtaking and generally being dangerous nuisances.
