Wanderings & Witterings

Nick

Salamanca's cathedral is actually two cathedrals rolled into one. The 'new' cathedral dates from the 16th century, while the 'old' cathedral dates from the 12th century. Nevertheless this carving of 'Auld Nick' (as we say in Scots, or The Devil in English) with a ice-cream cone was added, as was the astronaut in the extra photo, during restorations in the 1990s.

Walking tour of the main city centre sights this morning and oodles of free time this afternoon to explore them in more detail. It is now beer and tapas o'clock. Leaving tomorrow for Segovia then Madrid.
