Garden spider on the fennel

I'm not one bit keen on spiders so I felt quite brave getting close to this one. It had spun an intricate web on the enormous fennel plant. It think it's just a common garden spider and it was minding its own business so I left it in peace. Spiders in the garden are an entirely different proposition to spiders in the house.

Very enjoyable brunchy breakfast with friends this morning and a chance for a good catch up. Then garden cutting back/tidying/preparation for the new fence going in. Two brown bins filled and that's the start of the autumn garden work.

Minor walk planned for the afternoon. It's the Kiltwalk next weekend and I feel spectacularly unprepared.
