We adults can learn a lot from babies about self love. When they see themselves in a mirror often their response is to kiss themselves, smile, wave and generally have a lovely time with their own reflection. They have not yet been tainted with our image obsessed society that tells them they should want to change what’s in the mirror. They see their face and think ‘that looks beautiful, I must touch it!’. One of my all time favourite things that Little Boo does is when he grabs a bit of his thigh chin and squidges it in his hands. It’s like he feels his beautiful, soft flesh and contentedly loves himself for a moment. I aim to feel as loving about my squishy bits as he does his.
