Floating Flower

Walked back along New Hall Valley from the dentist this morning, a perfect English autumn morning. These are the grasses beside Plants Brook, formerly known as Ebrook, or East Brook. The stream originates in Sutton Park, and then flows under the town centre, emerging at various points afterwards until it gets to the New Hall Park, and eventually into the River Tame, ending up in the North Sea.

The bit of pink is pretty but sad, it's a flower from the Himalayan Balsam floating past, a plant which has taken over the banks and smothered most other native plants. You can eat the seeds and the flowers, but I do like to see variety... 

Great chat rest of morning with the legend that is Cath. Collected new reading glasses, my old ones only had one arm, and these are a stronger prescription. Grandkids came after school, made that easy one-crust pie again, and then dinner for everyone. Now I need to get on with computer work...
