The Emperor Dragonfly [Anax imperator] - or is it a Hawker???

This is the first time I've managed to photograph a dragonfly this year! Taken during a trip to the river - a welcome interlude to the day's chores. The weather was far too gloriously sunny to spend the whole of it indoors!

There's a heron with a snack that he caught over in my b&w journal and you can see just how beautiful this section of the river is over in 'My Third'
