Some achieve greatness

Yesterday was a family birthday (hence having to go to the accursed supermarket - rant now reinstated by popular request but still not recommended).

Tomorrow is another family birthday so today we went on a double birthday treat to see the Globe production of Twelfth Night (on Twelfth Night, naturally). It was a superb all-male cast with Mark Rylance as Olivia (that man can act anything) and Stephen Fry as Malvolio (more sensitive and sympathetic than I've seen him played before).

The production was both funny and poignant, with this set - quite simple apart from the 125 candles all needing to be lit at the beginning and tended in the interval - and few props. I felt Shakespeare would have recognised it and approved.
