20,000 in the streets of Portland
In terms of numbers, the International Climate Strike was a resounding success. Will action follow? We shall see.
These three splendid young women sat with me for a while in the Quiet Tent organized by Portland Buddhist Peace Fellowship. Our canopy was filled to capacity much of the day, with all the cushions and chairs in use. I quietly "anchored" our space while Sue was out making photos of the faces, signs, and energies of the day. All these young people demand change, demand a world with no borders, with forests and pollinators and enough for everyone. I feel such love for them, my eyes fill with tears. May the world they envision come to be.
When I am no longer, the wind will be, will continue being. --Eduardo Galeano.
