Harrogate on a high

The UCI World Cycling Championships were officially opened in Harrogate this afternoon.
This shot was taken from the ferris wheel in the fan park as the crowds were arriving. The atmosphere is fantastic and it is going to be an exciting week.
There was plenty of entertainment to be found in the fan park. Today's first extra is a shot of a rather daring rider doing a high jump on his trail bike. This involved hurtling up and down ramps at great speed to launch man and bike into the air.

The Slingsby's gin tasting stall was proving to be very popular also, and I particularly liked the marmalade gin.
