Life, not as we see it.

Sulphurous Salerno Sunset

So after a boozy 5 hour early evening swally, we rose in time to depart Gioisa Iconica by 09:15,  said our goodbyes and immediately started off on the wrong road. Once corrected we sailed up the autostrada for 5 hours with only two short cafe breaks, the second about 4 hours in, as I nodded off at the wheel.
Shortly thereafter we were nudged out of the overtaking lane by a blue Lamborghini Countach.   It had unusual livery, and the word "POLICIA" emblazoned on it's flanks.
It wisnae efter us yins, but disappeared very rapidly over the horizon.  Think they were just out to play with the traffic.

Satnav got up to it's tricks as we approached our Salerno hotel, directing us up a steep and VERY narrow alley.  Fortunately a couple of friendly locals redirected us to the correct route. Still steep, but at least wide enough for our car to pass.  The final 100 mtrs was down the top end of the initial, incorrect approach. Scary.

Hotel is fine if somewhat isolated, and this being Monday, virtually closed, so no restaurant tonight.  Don't fancy returning by car in the dark, so any food search will be on foot. Glad I have my climbing sandals for the return leg.  ;-)

L8R :-  Tried the "on foot" approach - nada, niente, buggerall, so had to resort to the car.  !!**$%#@. Managed to time it just right to join the rush hour chaos. Not too bad if you know where you are going, but without knowledge . . . . .
Managed to park down at the seafront, grab some pasta & pizza then tried to get back to base.  Problem is that every junction looks the same, and the satnav is too slow in speaking. So, many "recalculating"s later we made it back to the hotel only to be told that it was only the pizza oven that was closed mondays
