If you can't beat them...

The last of the Summer ...........

Butterflies?  A lovely day so I gave the grass what I optimistically hope will be the last cut, but basically I doubt it.  As I passed the Buddleia I noticed one or two remains of flowers hanging on.  Then as the day warmed up I noticed there were a few butterflies round it.

All summer they have been mainly Painted Ladies (Vanessa cardui) and Red Admirals (Vanessa atalanta) with Very few of these Small Tortoiseshells (Agleas urticae).  The Large Tortoiseshell is as far as I know considered extinct in the UK.
