Holed up

Rain all day was forecast and the morning was spent reading articles and chilling, whilst checking the weather out of the window every five minutes. It was a textbook tropical mizzle of very fine, misty, but not cold, rain.

When there was a break I leapt out for a walk in the forest and made it to a neighbouring beach before being pelted in mizzle once more. It was still a stunning landscape to be surrounded by. ‘Taxi boats’ ply the beaches and waters to ferry tourists between bays, and one of these proved very handily placed. I jumped on as the rain fell more heavily and I was beyond soaked by the time the boat pulled up to the pier in Vila do Abraão. Talking to an Englishwoman called Samantha who is on a travelling sabbatical had helped pass the journey of spray and spume.
