Life in Sunny Dubai

Glad to be able to write a few lines about today at the end of it! It's been pretty non-stop!

Dropped G off to school and came home to do a few things. Then back again to collect her for 11:30. We have an important lunch with our Pastor and his wife. They will be leaving Dubai for good next week so we chose Dubai's one and only iconic revolving restaurant at the Hyatt. J&P had never been or even heard of it in the five years they'd lived here! It shows how much "old Dubai" is sidelined!!

Very pleased that they loved the restaurant and the views it gives (main picture). They enjoyed the three-course international buffet as well. Best of all, Pam enjoyed watching Emirates flights take off from DXB heading out West! We all ate way too much though.

Got dropped home only for a quick change and head out to the Peugeot garage. I sourced a secondhand catalytic converter and oxygen sensor locally. The supplier said they would deliver it straight to the garage and needed to be paid. Our timing was perfect. The driver arrived with the part the same time as me! I've booked the car in on Saturday for this job. We'll see about the gearbox later.

Back home to watch history in the making. The UAE's first astronaut - Hazza Ali Al Mansoori was taking off from Kazakhstan to join the team in the ISS for eight days. There is much excitement over here. G found the proceedings on the NASA channel with English commentary! That's going to be a name to remember for the years to come!

We made it to the Salvation Army meeting at 7:30. Today, they were marking the Army's International Day of Prayer for Victims of Human Trafficking. It was enlightening!

So tired now, so I am switching off here. Hope you've had a good day. Some of the evening was spent watching the news from the UK and the US!!
