"Table for Two, Please."

Dear Diary,

28 F this morning and the garden is just about done for the year.  My birds and beasties know that time is short for stocking up pantries and fattening up before the winter winds blow.  Even Short Tail and Molly put aside their differences and shared the table.  The big "cut back" will begin soon and winter preparations for the house will begin for me too.  We all have work to do to get ready for what is to come.  We've had a marvelous September...what will October bring?
