Pure Country

Dear Diary,

A warm, blue sky day at Apple Acres and the annual Blue Grass Festival.  Several bands entertained the crowd who sat under the apple trees to have a listen while others picked their own organic apples with their children.  I wandered around taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the day.  The gentleman in my collage is resting under "Big Red", the Oak tree.  Planted in 1875, he is 5 feet 8 inches in diameter and 16 feet 8 inches in circumference.  Big Red is in a superb state of health despite being 144 years old.  That's a lot of Maine winters he has endured!  I had lunch in their new café with a Mason jar of home-grown flowers on the table.  Yep...PURE COUNTRY, PURE HEAVEN!
