Bridge over Route de Carteret

... one of only I think it’s 3 bridges in Guernsey over a road or in one case over rocks to St Martin Point. There was a 4th when the Guernsey Brewery was still brewing but that has gone now.
This was built in the late 19th century by Lord de Saumarez so that he could walk from his house (in what is now Saumarez Park) to a property he bought at Grandes Rocques without leaving his own land.
Lord de Saumarez’ son had asthma and a doctor advised he live as close to the sea as possible. Hence the purchase of the property at a Grandes Rocques which was a school for a while.
There are plenty of small bridges in parks and gardens and over douits etc...
