Silly Saturday ....

.... Lake Anna State Park.

This photo is more cute than silly but I still wanted to post it for Silly Saturday anyway.

We had a great first day of holiday here in Virginia!  We started by checking out the pool at our resort.  There are at least two pools here .... one inside and one outside.  We walked through the indoor pool to check out the outdoor pool and got locked out!  Then had a hard time finding a gate that worked so that we could leave!  We thought it strange that there wasn't a keypad that could be used to get back into the indoor pool!  Crazy!

When we drove through Gordonsville yesterday we saw that they were having an Autumn Festival at the fairgrounds.  Since we don't really have a set agenda for this vacation we checked out this festival before heading off to a state park.  We walked around for a bit .... R had his blood sugar tested (normal range!) and I got a t-shirt to support a local "town to trails" initiative.   We then stopped at a local library because they were having a book sale!

After leaving the library we set our sights on visiting Lake Anna State Park because R had read that the birding was excellent there and there are several walking trails within the park. The park was very nice ..... except for the mandatory parking fee!!  We spent about three hours here and did a lot of walking!  This family was enjoying the lake when we first arrived and I couldn't help but take a few pictures. You have to give the mom props for wearing a bikini!

After leaving the state park we drove to a Super Walmart to pick up some more groceries.  We had brought a lot of food with us but we still needed to get some more things to get us through the week.

We are now back at our cabin simply relaxing.
