Lake Lure Holiday ....

... Day 4.

As I mentioned yesterday we have big plans for today!  We left our condo by 9:30 and headed toward Brevard, NC.  Wait until you see why!
Brevard is one of only a few locations that there is a white squirrel population!  Now you know that I’m loving that!  Brevard is only about two hours from our condo so we could make this a day trip but we will be staying in a B&B tonight so that we can see and hopefully photograph the white squirrels two days in a row and not have to come back during this vacation.

On the way to Brevard we stopped at the Pisgah National Forest. We stopped at Looking Glass Falls (see extra) before having lunch at one of the picnic areas.  From the national forest we drove into Brevard, which is only about 10 minutes away.

Our first stop was at one of our favorite places in Brevard …. The White Squirrel Shoppe.  I’m so glad that they have survived all the upheaval of this year and are still in operation! We love this shop!

From the shop we went to Brevard College as this is where the highest percentage of white squirrels can be found.  Except today! We were a little disappointed as we only saw a couple out today.  Sometimes it’s like this when we visit here. If you follow the “White Squirrel” tag you will see our other visits to the wonderful city.

We eventually checked into our B&B and then went back to the college.  We drove around Brevard looking for more white squirrels before having dinner.  After dinner we went to the Art Loeb Trailhead for a lovely walk … and then went back to Looking Glass Falls one more time.

We got back to the B&B around 7:00 pm and settled in for the night.  I’m embarrassed to say that I slipped in the bathroom and whacked my right cheek on the sink’s edge.  Ouch! What a way to end this marvelous day!

Backblipped: December 31, 2020 ... just in the nick of time!
