Swans and Geese on Mallards Lake

A full on day. Guests for Sunday lunch. That’s a whole pile of work, preparing, cooking, timing and washing up as well as the entertaining. All the vegetables came from the allotment, the apples from Doreen’s tree, home made pastry and Tom Kerridge’s Yorkshire Puddings (which never fail)

No wonder I had 40 winks when I sat down with my coffee. It was good to get out after our friends went for a walk around the village, passing by Mallards Lake in the last of the yellow light.

Mind you, there were the usual number of numpties driving recklessly through the village. Instead of enjoying a restful, recuperative walk we were wound up by a significant number of motorists who blatantly disregarded the 30mph speed limit. It seems to be a growing problem to us.
