Dublin: Day 4

The day shone bright and we had a morning to kill so headed off to the National Botanic Gardens. What a marvel - so many astonishing glasshouses, an incredible variety of plants all arranged in different landscapes, even an Irish wild area which looked remarkably like our garden! It's free and was so well used, lots of families out and about just enjoying the space.

Glasnevin cemetery is just next door so we dragged ourselves round that too. Astonishing - think Highgate in London or any other jam packed and ornate Victorian cemetery. The marvel has to be Daniel O'Connell The Liberator's memorial - a round tower complete with a moat! I preferred the more intimate little memorials.

A bus back to Cork, then drive home, beans on toast and in bed by 9.30! A great few days.
