The Birthday Girl!

Tonight was finally party time as Daughter #2 celebrated her 30th birthday Gatsby style.  There was lots of pre planning involved and everything came together beautifully.  Guests were both family and friends of all ages, with an  age range of 5 to 85.  Everyone made such a wonderful effort with their outfits, men in evening dress or Peaky Blinder lookalikes and ladies in  flapper dresses of every colour and style.  

There is always one potential  disaster to cause extra stress and Peggy Sue provided it:  I had forgotten that she is rather fond of sweet things (unusual for a cat) and so had not worried about placing the (professionally made) birthday cake on the buffet table in the marquee this morning...then PS decided to sample the icing...  She managed to lick across  the main design on the front, smearing edible gold into black!  Amazingly disaster was averted: I happened to have both black and gold edible food colourings in the cupboard and Mr MC's painting and modelling skills were employed repairing the damage.
