Roof repairs

The roof repairs having being going on all week.

It's a problem, pretty much as old as me.... ONLY now, do I actually understand, what went wrong.

The story goes.........
The municipal house came with a tin roof.
Tin roofs need to be painted, FREQUENTLY.
Around the time of my arrival, Mom decided NO MORE.
She arranged to have tiles, put on top of the tin roof.
The way it was done, wood beams were laid over the tin roof and then the tiles, were layered on top.

Of course, tile roofs, eventually also need to be painted.
Around the time, I went to varsity, this was done.
FANCY !  FANCY !  And QUICK !

Basically, the people used a machine, to spray on the paint.

They caused a burst water pipe - which cost a fortune and required, major modifications to the plumbing.  And............ water got under the tiles.

The water, caused the original wooden beams to rot.
And T-R-O-U-B-L-E !

R25 000 later, we've had, the rotten wood removed, new wood laid down and the tiles, put back.  The tiles still need to be painted.

It's a big expense, but a necessary one...... it would have been hard to sell the house, with the visible wobble on the roof.
