Connections

This grotesque is Arum pictum 'Primrose Warburg', a form with especially delicate markings on the leaves, the first of which  is just unfurling.  The species is unique in the genus as it is the only autumn flowering arum.  This form originates from Majorca many years ago and was distributed by Primrose Warburg who was one of the founder members of The Crocus Group.  A connection for me at least.  Primrose was the wife of Prof Heff Warburg, co-author of a British Flora known to botanists of half a century ago and perhaps still used by some of you?
