Squirrel

Cortina d’Ampezzo’s symbol is a squirrel, and the campsite is home to a fair few. We spent a little time watching a couple before I put the telephoto lens on. I only got 2 shots before it wandered away and this was the best. The forecast was for the weather to be cloudy and then eventually to rain, so we decided to have a look at an exhibition about the Dolomites in Toblach, just to the north of the hills. It was very good and explained the evolution of the Dolomites from sub-tropical lagoons to the current spectacular hills. To the north the weather was warmer so we decided to go up to the Pragser Wildsee and walk round it. To the north it’s majority German speaking even though it’s in Italy so the names are German first. The lake is really lovely, but it was quite busy. Afterwards we went to Lienz in Austria, as that’s a better place for a wet day and also fuel is way cheaper than in Italy (between 25 and 35 cents a litre) and supermarkets aren’t hidden away from sight. The extras are firstly reflections, 2 man made in the campsite in Lienz and the park in Toblach and the other is at the Pragser Wildsee. The other extra is autumn and late summer scenes.

Yesterday’s blip.
