Please do touch and be surprised

We went to the Laing Art Gallery to see The Enchanted Interior. The exposition is about how the interior is represented as a ‘gilded cage’ in which women are pictured as ornamental objects, in nineteenth-century paintings.
It was a small exposition, but with lots of information provided next to the paintings. It was interesting to see how the woman was depicted as a beauty, an ornament, at a time just before the suffragette movement started.

After our visit to the art gallery, we went for some geocaching. One was lost, one was found and the third was at a very busy place where we have been before and also didn't start to search, like this afternoon.

Back in South Shields, we stopped at Colmans Fish&Chips, which is said to be the best chippy in Britain. On their walls photos of celebrities who have been visiting the restaurant. No, I think that says enough, and we were there, too.
