The hidden Glen

I was up and out photographing a wonderful sunrise over The Point and thinking that was blip was already sorted.
I had come indoors to warm up and had been thinking that the Glens must be looking spectacular and was looking at the forecast to see if there were any bright days coming up. Mike came in and had just had a post from last year come up on his Facebook page , it was from Strathfarrar and suggested we went today ! The forecast for the rest of the week was not looking very good with snow even forecast so we gathered our things together and were soon on our way.
The last few chilly days have definitely made the leaves change , especially the silver birch and with the sun shining the colours looked amazing.
It does not take too long to reach the Glen, less than an hour. We reached the gate and the gate keeper came out and recorded our number plate and gave us the green ticket, opened the gate and away we went. Stunning from the moment you enter. We are always greeted by flocks of snowy white sheep who carry on munching as we pass.
Trees with golden , yellow leaves line the road and beyond. Still waters reflect the mountain side. One of my favourite trees was still standing in front of my favourite view of the Glen.
We saw two Golden eagles , high above a ridge, a male Feral goat clambered down the mountain side , walked across the valley floor and back up the other side with ease.
Stonechats , male and females ,sat on twigs and moss covered rocks, four young stags watched our every move.
Numerous stops to take photos on the journey. We drove across the Dams at the end and parked in the carpark.I went for a walk down to a waterfall. Hoping to see more deer but even though the evidence was there , I did not spot any although I would not be surprised if they were watching me.I watched a wren hopping in and out of the wooden planks of an old bridge and could hear other birds above the sound of the rushing water.
We drove down to Glen Cannich after, the sun had dipped behind the mountains casting the Glen into shadows. A tricky road to drive with plenty of deep pot holes to avoid. We had to wait for a herd of black cows to move along at their own pace, there’s no rushing a cow who has found some tasty grass to eat :)
Fish and chips from Beauly finished our adventure :)
