Inspiration

Happy to have lots of sunshine today, to dry the clothes, replenish our batteries, and for Mike to be able to weld the reinforcing steel for columns to make sure the steel joist holding up the roof doesn't fall on us if/when we get an earthquake.

Been thinking about Penelope Lively's six things that are eloquent, that speak of their owner, that are "resonant and betraying and reflective"... Hers were: duck kettle holders from Maine, blue lias ammonites, a mother-of-pearl Jerusalem Bible, a bronze replica of an Egyptian cat statue, a 1788 sampler, and a leaping fish sherd from Cairo. She tells their story as far as possible and hers as it links to theirs.

Thinking it would make an interesting little series on Blip, though really, my "accretions of a lifetime" are mostly in the attic of our Sutton house, we didn't bring much to Portugal. But maybe...

Gratefuls:
- sunny walk into town to post, bank, and visit the Team
- my feisty 3yr old granddaughter getting her ears pierced and refusing to admit it hurt
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, her intelligence, her fight for justice, what a woman! and she's younger than my oldest daughter, what an inspiration she is
