There's a huge magnolia flower folded into this fuzzy little pouch. The tree is covered with pale buds, but this is the first spot of color.

We just got back from seeing Monterey Jazz Festival On Tour: 55th Anniversary Celebration featuring Deedee Bridgewater, Christian McBride, Benny Green, Lewis Nash, Chris Potter and Ambrose Akinmusire at our local jazz club. The group is just beginning a six-week tour, and if they come to Your Town, check it out. Great music from stellar performers.
