Light-Emitting Diodes

This is a shot of a modern electroluminiscence lamp where the colour of light is changed by the energy gap in the semiconductor - that's the scientific bit! I just love watching the colour transitions. I moved my lamp close to the sofa, steadied my iPhone on my knee and fired off a dozen shots as the colours changed. I was spoiled for choice, but selected a greeny-blue shot and in Photoshop I did a bit of cropping and applied the Artistic-Watercolour filter to give a painterly look.
