Tree worship

An extremely disappointing morning what with England losing in the Rugby World Cup final and some atrocious weather to boot.

England didn’t look in the match from the very start, committing too many unforced errors and conceding too many penalties under the relentless pressure from the Springboks. The Boks did to England what England did to the All Blacks. Played us off the park. A wait now until the Six Nations to see how England respond and a four year wait to do it all again in France in 2023.

The day improved in the afternoon, we managed a walk, mostly in the dry, into town struggling back with rucksacks and bags full of stuff. We passed this enthusiastic group in Mote Park on a tour of the Park’s many impressive trees.

I did wonder whether it was a good idea to congregate under such a large tree given the severe winds we had this morning and the frequency with which trees in the Park have been prone to shed branches or topple in recent years.
