The Lozarithm Lens

Calne (Saturday 2nd November 2019)

This tree is in the Town Gardens showing off its autumn colours and I may have blipped it earlier in the year, so it's obviously a good value tree. On the other side of the road you can see the Fluffy Puffin van parked as usual outside its house, which was formerly called The Tardis. I'm keen to try the artisan ice cream and sorbet as proclaimed on the side of the van, but apparently it isn't sold directly to retailers. This is clearly a total swizz.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash - Matchbox (Take 1) (recorded 18 February 1969, Columbia Studio A, Nashville TN)
Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash (vocals, guitars) with Carl Perkins (gtr), Bob Wootton (gtr), Marshall Grant (bass) and WS Holland (dr)
The first song Bob Dylan ever recorded was Carl Perkins' hit Matchbox when he and his high school band made a one-off single in Minneapolis, so it was appropriate that Carl Perkins should be playing in Johnny Cash's group when Cash joined Dylan to try out some duets for possible inclusion on Nashville Skyline, including Matchbox, which Perkins had coincidentally been re-recording in an adjoining studio the day before. The Beatles had also recorded Matchbox a few years earlier, as George Harrison was a great admirer of Perkins, though Ringo took on the vocal duties.
The Dylan-Cash version was not released, but has now appeared on Dylan's Bootleg Series Vol. 15: Travelin' Thru 1967-1969, which was released on Friday and that I had pre-ordered.
