This Lancashire Fusilier off Chapel Street in Salford has seen the world change a great deal since Edward VII unveiled him in 1905. A commemoration of the dead of the Boer War.

Whilst he stands frozen in a last hurrah on his pedestal Salford is rapidly changing around him.
