You'll have to come and get it

I had to leave work early to get to the lab for a blood test (routine), and so headed down to Western Springs Lake a lot earlier than I have been. This time I did see the Weweia (Dabchicks). Two adults and two chicks, which are much bigger than when they began appearing on the Auckland Bird web site. I saw them initially quite a way out from the shore in the northeastern corner of the lake. They then made their way along the lake, at times well out from the shore, and on other occasions very close to the land. I took a lot of photos, most of which were less than I had hoped for. I'm quite pleased with how this one has turned out.
