It will take a while to get there but, today, Mrs TD made a start. She ordered a boiled egg with soldiers for breakfast, at lunch she requested a cheese-and-tomato toastie, for tea – mashed potato and veg with a little gravy, then there was one portion of tiramisu and another of trifle. It wasn’t all eaten, of course, but most of it was – and with a certain amount of pleasure.
 
The other notable feature of the day was that we ran out of vases; this rose was in the middle of a bunch of chrysanthemums.
