Coming in to rock

A very quiet and slow start to the day. S and the daughters had their nail appointment with Natalie while I read an interesting paper.

Then, for the first time in many weeks we drove north to the beach house. Much of the repairs to the areas which were damaged by water (after pipes were chewed through by rats) has been completed. I was able to have a quick walk down to Southend and around the corner. On the rock platform was a large group of black oyster catchers (Torea pango); I walked toward them and some flew away and around. One came in at speed back onto the rock.

I have added as an extra a photo of the Alchemist rose which is growing as a climber along the fence between ours and the neighbour.
