Viper's Bugloss

A rather overcast day for our first July visit to Conington, but this brownfield site was superbly flowery, thanks to a much damper summer this year. I particularly liked the combination of blue viper's bugloss with the soft greenish-yellow spikes of weld. One of the viper's bugloss plants is unusually pale, but you often see such variation in very large populations.
