Ducks (crossing the line....)

I love this time of year when so many ducks are back…Here is Mr and Mrs. American Widgeon seen on our walk today near some pretty nice reflections.  You can see why the male is often called “Baldplate”  (I just read that!)  They like to winter together with flocks of coots, both of which are bottom feeders, and seen a lot in shallow areas of the lakes. 
The extra is the pea patch (“P patch" not “allotment” )across the way from where the ducks were.
