No tortilla, less speed

There’s an amazing north-south split on the island at the moment so we’ve stayed on the south side and headed up a new hill that was way better than I’d anticipated. I’d checked the tarmac before we came out on google maps; the bottom and top weren’t so exciting in terms of what seemed like scrappy houses with little to see. But, I didn’t check out the middle! It was such a great ride, heading up along a crest this time, rather than a valley, with amazing views of the volcanic structures that make Gran Canaria.

It was also the steepest road we’ve encountered so far but there were plenty of places for a bit of recovery.

Just no cafes!

Still, it made for a superb birthday ride. We’ve hired a car for the next couple of days but aren’t really sure what the weather’s going to bring - we’ll be exploring somehow though, whether it’s under our own wheel power or an engine’s!
