Fine weather for snails and slugs

Another day of unrelenting grey skies and rain, spent largely at the computer working on a large report, with a brief trip out to Waitrose to buy a few bits and pieces and pick Ben up from work.

By late evening the rain had petered out, so I decided to go out into the sodden garden to see if, by some miracle, there might be anything to photograph. The dampness was audible, a symphony of trickles and drips, from gutters and vegetation.

The only wildlife enjoying the conditions were one large Spanish slug (new to the garden) sliding across the patio and a couple of baby snails in a Box bush. This one was definitely the cutest, but it's a bit too young to be sure of an identification.

I'm really hoping for a glimpse of sunshine soon!
