Big Birds In Flight

I saw and photographed some lovely birds today but the light was really bad so my images were rubbish. :(

Early this morning a red kite (pictured) swooped low over the farmyard and I got a dunnock watching the sheep have their breakfast. The pair of Canada geese that raised a family on the lake in the spring have returned with their offspring. I've been listening to the, "Phew, phew, phew" of a resident flock of bullfinches for ages but they're very shy and I haven't got an image until today. Shame it wasn't blipworthy.

This afternoon I spotted a goldcrest in the hazel bushes by the southerly boiler-house. I got pics but they were lacklustre. Jack heron again protested about Ollie dog and me walking around the lake. I got a shot of him coming into land on the boiler-house chimney. I've converted the kite and heron pics into mono in an attempt to make them more appealing.

While MrQ was having his scan I took Ollie dog for a little walk in the dark in the hospital grounds. She loved seeing the rabbits and the muntjac deer.
