Blue, Beard

Another horribly dull day. I didn't mind so much as I was inside making my first batch of twelve dozen mince pies for the family. I'm going to post my granddaughter's and my son's in the morning.

This blue tit was flying with the troupe of long-tailed-tits and is perched high in a dead tree by some wild clematis seedheads. In the autumn these are white and fluffy, which gives rise to the name old-man's-beard.
