We had a quiet Thanksgiving together, enjoying a meal of smoked salmon, broccoli, superb black olive bread from a local bakery, and a tiny pecan pie from our food co-op. A walk before that at Lake Padden was rewarded with sunshine and the calm gliding of these female mallards.

I've ordered holiday photo cards, made several lists, gathered family gifts that have to be mailed -- and have selections from Handel's "Messiah" running through my head nonstop. It's going to be a tremendous thrill to sing that work, first performed in Dublin in 1742, in Bellingham's Mount Baker Theatre on December 7, 2019!
