Back Blip…

……………………..Glenfinnan, Scotland

A Back Blip, uploaded 3rd December for 14th May.

Two ferry crossings today - from Armadale we cross the Sound of Skeet to rejoin the mainland at Mallaig. Our lunch stop was at Glenfinnan. Then it was on to our second ferry which took us to the Isle of Mull.

Tobermory, the island capital was pretty and quaint. The distillery produces awesome whisky fudge - I don’t drink whisky, but I loved their fudge. On the waterfront we found an ice cream shop serving creamy handmade ice cream made from locally milked cows. It was absolutely delicious.

Main photo shows the Glenfinnan Memorial which stands as a tribute to the clansmen who fought and died for the Jacobite cause of Prince Charles Edward Stuart.
We had climbed a nearby hill to get this view of the memorial standing at the head of Loch Sheil and behind us, a photo of the viaduct - the one evidently seen in the harry Potter movies.

Extra photos
Armadale castle, the spiritual home of the MacDonalds, the museum - including a connection to NZ, Ramsay’s Well within the gardens of the castle, our Ferry to Mallaig
Tobermory - the colourful buildings and the harbour
A late extra added of the Viaduct and Memorial at Glenfinnan
