Grants of Croydon

Durig the First World War years this was the Harrods of its generation. Croydon had an international airport and visitors flocked to Grants from far and wide.  It closed in 1985 and was finally redeveloped in 2000 with the Grade II listed facade now hiding an entertainment complex.
I have fond memories of trips to Croydon on the bus with my Mum to have lunch with Gran in Grants.
Its interesting history is of course on Wiki if you are interested to read more.
I had stopped off at East Croydon station on my way to London and lunched with my Aunt who still lives locally. Sady we could not lunch in Grants.
